We are pleased to send this update on one of Toronto’s most enduring and creative young talents - truly a modern-day renaissance man Keram Malicki-Sanchez.
His most recent project, The Hanging Tree is a song he wrote and recorded for Heather Graham to sing and play on guitar in her latest film “broken” (Walk On The Beach Productions), scheduled for limited release October 2007. http://myspace.com/brokenthemotionpicture and http://brokenthemotionpicture.com “broken” also stars Jeremy Sisto and Linda Hamilton.
Last month the film’s director, Alan White, shot and directed a music video in Los Angeles featuring Ms. Graham singing lead vocals accompanied by Keram and his band. http://youtube.com/watch?v=T9ct73qTMKE In its first 36 hours the video received 5000 views.
The song, featured throughout the film and over the closing credits, is performed by the band that plays on Keram’s soon-to-be-released debut solo recording, Come To Life. This will be his first major release since Blue Dog Pict’s cult classic, Spindly Light und Wax Rocketines and, in anticipation of the release of Come To Life, Keram’s label, Constant Change has re-released this title. The CD is available through CDBaby http://cdbaby.com/bluedogpict and iTunes. Before the new album comes out Keram will release an EP of acoustic songs.
Keram was a featured guest star in the season finale of “Saving Grace”. The episode, titled A Language of Angels, stars Academy Award winner, Holly Hunter and airs on TNT in the US this week. He also makes an interesting cameo appearance as DJ Bitchslap in the new Daniel Waters’ film, Sex and Death 101, slated for February 14, 2008 release. Keram shares an onscreen kiss with Winona Ryder before her character dumps the DJ!
Keram Malicki-Sanchez has maintained his Toronto residence as well as being totally integrated in the film and music scenes in Los Angeles where, in addition to acting, writing and producing he also teaches acting classes with Canadian actress, Polly Shannon.
