La Tragedia de New Orleans. The Tragedy of New Orleans. I wish I knew how it would feel to be free

The city remained in silence, the debris accompanied their thoughts and the water covered their dead. The days followed one after another and they understood that they were alone. Some died, some disappeared, others could no longer survive the agony.
As they waited, their anguish changed to frustration. Their frustration changed to fury, but these emotions became dumb while the TV took photos, and the personalities saluted them, for at last someone was remembering them!
Their dead, they are still forgotten, nobody knows how many they are...
The ordinary people of the world emerge and say to them: “Take my arm!” “Share my house!”
In the end we recognize that the system is not able to stand up for the interests of the poor.

I wish I knew how it would feel to be free
I wish I could break all the chains holding me.

I wish I could say all the things that I should say
Say 'em loud, say 'em clear for the whole round world to hear.
I wish I could share all the love that's in my heart.
Remove all the bars that keep us apart.
I wish you could know what it means to be me
Then you'd see and agree that every man should be free.
I wish I knew how it would feel to be free
I wish that I could break all the chains holding me
I wish I could say all the things that I'd like to say
Say 'em loud, say 'em clear for the whole round world to hear
I wish I could share all the love that's in my heart
Remove all the bars that keep us apart.

I wish you could know what it means to be me
Then you'd see and agree that every man should be free.
I wish I could give all I’m longing to give
I wish I could live like I'm longing to live
I wish I could do all the things that I can do
I'm way overdue, I'd be starting anew.

I wish I could be like a bird in the sky
How sweet it would be if I found I could fly!

I'd soar to the sun and look down at the sea
And I'd sing because I'd know

And I'd sing because I'd know
And I'd sing because I'd know
I'd know how it feels,
I'd know how it feels to be free.
Billy Taylor

Asi es nexcor, people cannot afford to be poor. No se puede afford el ser pobre. Debemos trabajar juntos alrededor del mundo.
